Start of Run
Please be in the designated start area and be in position when your teammate is approaching. The runner will follow a well-defined route approximately eight miles long along Mt. Baker Highway; mile markers will be in chalk on the pavement along the race route. There are no water stations along the route, please carry a water bottle with you if you know you will need water. There will be water available at the finish line. The downhill run will consist of a 2,200 foot drop in elevation. Runners must remain on the right side of the road; runners who cross the double yellow line are subject to disqualification. Official observers appointed by the race committee will be monitoring this. Also, please be aware that there may be Highway Patrol or other emergency vehicle traffic on the highway. A Sweeper Van leaves Heather Meadows approximately 45 minutes after the last runner leaves. Any runners still on the course when the sweeper van arrives, will be picked up and taken to the transition area and receive a DNF. You can request an Early Release if you among the final group of runners and you think you will need more than 45 minutes to complete the course.
There will be a pre-race meeting at 7:45am on Race Day outside of the Heather Meadows Lodge. IT IS MANDATORY THAT ALL RACERS ATTEND THIS MEETING TO GET THE LATEST SAFETY INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE.
