Promontory Butte is one of the best places to view the vast forested lands below the Mogollon Rim. The butte juts out nearly two miles from the rest of the rim to give visitors a stunning view southward. Forest Road 764 turns south off the Mogollon Rim Road and meanders for 3.5 miles to the viewpoint. Park back a way and walk out to the point and stay back from loose edges on the cliff. Don’t forget your camera at your motorcycle.
