Lincoln’s Throat
One of the most classic gully lines outside the Presidential Range. Start from the Falling Waters Trailhead. Skin along the Old Bridle Path until it starts to head steeply uphill to hikers left. Descend a short pitch of downhill skinning to Walker Brook. If this is open water, it’s possible to stay to hiker’s right of the Brook in some low angle woods that appear to have been thinned out. A long low angle skin eventually forces you into a high walled gully. Kick turn until it stops being efficient and boot pack from there. Hike to the base of the ice bulge and dig out a spot to transition. Excellent steep gully turns lead down to the brook, with great views of Franconia Notch.
Be aware that this line is a huge terrain trap.
