Follow the Old Osseo Trail, marked with orange flagging tape until it leaves the drainage. Continue following the creek, which is in a steep walled, awkward gully to skim through. Eventually you’ll reach a split, continuing to follow the brook leads to the South Slides. Taking the right fork leads to the West Slide. The West Slide is the most reliable option in low snow due to smaller rocks. Comically hard bushwacking up the faint drainage leads to an obvious opening, from here the slide fans out into a huge arrow shaped slide with amazing views. Moderately pitched skiing, with Loon Mountain South Peak looking back at you in the foreground, leads back down to the shwack. Be aware that this line is avalanche terrain. It is also incredibly remote, parties need to be self reliant and plan for a potential overnight stay if things don’t go as planned.
