Lincoln’s Beard Center

An excellent ski line on the backside of Franconia Ridge, and a great intro to Pemi skiing. This line is less of a slide, and more of a zone, with multiple ski options. It’s almost like a lower angle version of Gulf of Slides or Oakes Gulf. The best approach is to skin Falling Waters Trail to the summit of Mount Lincoln. From here you can ski in directly off the summit or continue along the ridge to your desired gully. The skiers right side off Mount Lincoln is avalanche terrain, but the skiers left side off Mount Lafayette is not avalanche terrain. This makes it a great low angle option. The easiest exit is to skin out the skiers left line back to the right near Lafayette. From there you can descend any of the Franconia Ridge lines back to Falling Waters Trailhead, which will likely be the crux of the day.
